STONES RECORDED IN SHILSTONE THAT ARE NOW MISSING

Shilstone recorded a number of stones which no longer exist, or which Shilstone missed in his recording, or could not read, and only gave numbers to. Shilstone himself recorded that many stones were smashed to bits when the great trees that overhung the cemetery were cut down in the late 1920's early 1930's, and a letter to the Mahamad in London is preserved in the archives in London, where Shilstone writes complaining about the destruction.

The missed stones are as follows, according to Shilstone's numbering:

16; 27; 28a; 54a; 54b; 58; 59; 87; 111; 125; 127; 152; 167; 168; 178; 180 illegible; 182 illegible; 198; 208 small stone eliau filho; 209 yshac filho; 228 moseh filho; 229 childs stone dated 5443; 234 illegible; 238 illegible;244 small stone much delaminated; 249 in two pieces very worn; 253 hebrew inscription missed by shilstone.
